After visiting (and shopping) at Livraria Cultura, we took a relaxed tour in the river Capibaribe. We went under a bunch of bridges, some of which were quite low, and we thought for sure Doug, Josh and Jordan would lose their heads going under those bridges…but luckily they ducked just in time.

We were able to see quite close the Parque de Esculturas Brennand, the
Palácio do Jardim das Princesas, and many other important local buildings and places.
It helped me understand even more that Recife is a place full of cultural and
historical sites, and the local habitants are quite proud of it.
On my way home, I left my wallet in the taxi. After Cindy
got ahold of the taxi company, she was able to track down the driver and he
drove all the way back to bring me back my wallet. I was of course impressed
with his honesty. Not only do we live in a world where honesty is rare, but we
here every day how Brazilians are not happy with the salary they make, and a
wallet full of money and a credit card would be an easy way out for a taxi
driver. I was so happy to get my wallet back, and thanked Luciano for being
honest and gave him a little tip so he could go to the movies and eat the
popcorn he loves so much.
